The HEIRS Opening Symposium, scheduled for January 28-29, 2025, in Faro, Portugal, will focus on promoting research synthesis in human evolution. This event aims to showcase a range of synthesis approaches, particularly those that are collaborative, across various disciplines related to human evolution. A key objective of the symposium is to introduce the HEIRS initiative and demonstrate how it will facilitate further synthesis work in the field of human evolution.
The symposium will delve into four major themes in human evolution: the evolution of Homo, movements and demography, technology, behavior and cognition, and the causes and consequences of inequalities in human evolution. An impressive lineup of speakers, including Francesco d’Enrico (University of Bordeaux, FR), Eleanor Scerri (Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology, DE), Felix Riede (University of Aarhus, DK), and several others, will present the latest advances in these areas.
